Improved Prototype of Keyboard Castanets

今回ブナ材で新しく作らせていただいたのは、ピアノの鍵盤のように演奏できるカスタネットの試作品の改良版です。

小さな子供でも簡単に楽しめる、これまでにない新しい楽器を目指して試行錯誤しています。

カスタネットらしくない細長い形状は、横に並べて鍵盤のように演奏するためです。

木目の美しさや木の手触りを大切に伝えたいので、厚い塗装はしないでおこうと考えています（薄く蜜蝋をひく程度）。

音程を調整する方法はオリジナルな新しい考え方を使っています。

カスタネットは単純な打楽器ですが、内部共鳴空間と開口面積を調整することで、まるで管楽器のように音程を調整できる事が分かったのです（特許技術）。

低音から高音まで色々な音程を楽しめるようにしたいですね。

This time I made a new and improved version of a prototype castanet made of beech wood that can be played like a piano keyboard.

I am trying to create a new instrument that even small children can easily enjoy.

The long and slender shape of the castanets, which does not look like castanets, is intended to allow them to be played side by side like a keyboard.

I do not want to apply a thick coat of paint (just a thin layer of beeswax) because I want to convey the beauty of the grain and the feel of the wood.

The method of adjusting the pitch is based on an original new idea.

Castanets are simple percussion instruments, but by adjusting the internal resonance space and opening, I have discovered that we can adjust the pitch just like a wind instrument (patented technology).

I would like to make it possible to enjoy a variety of pitches from low to high.
